When I knew I was having a boy, many moms around me would say how wonderful it is to have a boy. "Boys are different," they'd tell me, "special." Now that I have my boy, I know that it's true. In no way does it take away the specialness of my girls, it's just a different kind of special. In fact, I think mothers are made to raise sons and to raise daughters to one day raise sons.
At first, this may seem sexist to say, but once it's thought through, it really is not. We need good men, husbands and fathers and we need good mothers to raise them. It's circular.
